 Ain't it strange?

Have you ever been told "you have GOT to hear this guy play, man he is awesome." everybody you see says "that guy can play." so you finally get a chance to go hear him (or her) and they are mediocre, at best. it's not a case of not appreciating their style or genre or whatever but just a solid case of...they aren't that good at whatever it is they're doing? and everyone who hears them is going all out and you are wondering "what am I missing, this is mediocre." I appreciate folks playing at their level and will listen all day to someone playing their heart, no matte their skill level. but that's not what I'me talking about.

I am having that experience this weekend. Only it ain't a musician. two churches paid to bring in this hot shot teacher for a weekend retreat and he is spouting off profound phrases and everyone is eating it up going "ooh ahh" and all I can see is a guy stumbling around, getting lost in his power points, not having a point to his speech, spent 25 minutes out of a 60 minute lesson talking about not being able to see the clock. made stuff up during "relaxation exercises" starts a point and is talking for 3 Minutes about a point and when he is about to tell you the big thing he is building up to says "...but I get ahead of myself." starts talking about a topic then says "...but we don't have time for that."

ahhhhh drives me up a wall.

ok. thanks for listening
